Also with a local museum, which shows the town's fascinating history of being linked with the Battle of Trafalgar. The sails for HMS Victory were made in the town when it was famous for canvas making, and you can learn about Nelson's Captain Sir Thomas Hardy.
The beautiful 15th century church, St Bartholomew's, which is situated directly behind Manse Manor Hall was built with Ham Stone from the local quarry at Ham Hill. The church has many individual and unique features.
Manse Manor Hall is ideally situated for visiting the West Bay only 15 miles away, the famous Jurassic coast of Lyme Regis where you can collect fossils is 16 miles, Historic Montacute House, Barrington Court, Tintinhull Gardens, Ham Hill, and if you want the taste of traditional local cider at Perry’s Cider Mill all are within an 8 mile radius. For those who prefer to walk there are many walking trails around Crewkerne.
Manse Manor Hall is also ideal for those who want a stress free time away and do not wish to drive, as the Crewkerne train station is only 1 mile away. There are trains from London Waterloo every hour, and excellent taxis services which can be arranged.
